Tycho's Supernova Remnant Expands
This movie from the Chandra X-ray Observatory shows Tycho's supernova remnant expanding over fifteen years. Tycho Brahe recorded the original stellar explosion over four centuries ago. The composite, which includes an optical frame, reveals a huge, hot, expanding gas cloud. Different parts of the cloud expand at slightly different speeds.
