The New Horizons spacecraft captured stunning images of Jupiter on its way to Pluto. Jupiter is known for its Great Red Spot and its regular, equatorial cloud bands. This image, taken in 2007 near Jupiter's terminator, shows a wide variety of cloud patterns. Near the South Pole, turbulent whirlpools and swirls are visible in a dark band.
