COSMIC MESSAGE

The Lagoon Nebula, also known as M8, is a bright star-forming region about 5,000 light-years distant in Sagittarius. Ridges of glowing interstellar gas and dark dust clouds inhabit its turbulent depths. This deep view, nearly 100 light-years across, is dominated by the red emission of ionized hydrogen atoms.
