COSMIC MESSAGE

Mars passed through the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex in August 2016, putting the red planet in front of colorful cosmic clouds. The mosaic of telescopic images shows Mars, over seven light-minutes from Earth, near the bright star Antares. Antares, also known as Alpha Scorpii, is a red supergiant that appears similar in color to Mars in this exposure.
