Long, unexpected shadows stretch across Saturn's rings in this image. These shadows, cast by objects up to a few kilometers high, are unusual given the rings' typical ten-meter thickness. Scientists theorize these are 'propeller shadows' caused by kilometer-sized moonlets embedded in the rings.
