NASA APOD · Jess M.Vargas & Maritxu Poyal
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Great Nebula in Orion is an immense, nearby starbirth region about 1500 light-years away. Filaments of dark dust and glowing gas surround hot young stars at the edge of an interstellar molecular cloud. This deep image from the Hubble Space Telescope shows part of the nebula's center in assigned colors. You can find the Great Nebula with the unaided eye near Orion's belt.
