COSMIC MESSAGE
IC 1396, also known as the Elephant's Trunk Nebula, holds clouds of gas and dust. A bright young star, too far to harm us, is eroding the dust of a dark cometary globule. Its energetic light and particle winds push away the surrounding gas and dust.
