Veil Nebula: Wisps of an Exploded Star

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Veil Nebula, also known as the Cygnus Loop, is the remnant of a star that exploded about 7,000 years ago. At the time, the expanding cloud was likely as bright as a crescent Moon, visible for weeks. Today, these delicate wisps of gas are only visible through a small telescope in the constellation Cygnus.
