COSMIC MESSAGE
These tangled filaments are part of the Veil Nebula, a large supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus. The nebula is an expanding cloud formed from the death explosion of a massive star. The shock waves from this event, which likely occurred over 5,000 years ago, sweep through space and excite interstellar gas.
