This is A/2017 U1, the first known object to visit us from interstellar space. This 5-minute exposure was taken with the William Herschel Telescope in the Canary Islands. The interstellar visitor is asteroid-like, with no signs of cometary activity. It made a hairpin turn around the Sun and is traveling at high velocity.
