This close-up of NGC 1055, an edge-on spiral galaxy in Cetus, shows us a galaxy a little larger than our own Milky Way. The pink star-forming regions are scattered along the galaxy's winding dust lanes. It sits 60 million light-years away. The colorful stars in the foreground are well within our own galaxy.
