Venus and the Triply Ultraviolet Sun

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

In 2012, Venus crossed the face of the Sun, an unusual type of solar eclipse. Usually it is the Earth's Moon that eclipses the Sun. The dark spot of Venus crossed our parent star, captured here in ultraviolet light by the Solar Dynamics Observatory. The alignment was perfect, and the phase of Venus dropped to zero.
