Saturn's moon Enceladus is backlit by the Sun in this Cassini spacecraft image from 2009. The dramatic illumination reveals plumes of water vapor and ice continuously spewing into space from its south pole. These plumes are connected to a subsurface ocean and contribute material to Saturn's E ring.
