COSMIC MESSAGE
Seen as a seagull and a duck, these nebulae span almost 7 degrees across Earth's night sky towards Canis Major. The expansive Seagull, at the top center, is composed of two major emission nebulae. Brighter NGC 2327 forms the head, with the more diffuse IC 2177 as the wings and body. The Seagull's wingspan would correspond to 250 light-years at its estimated distance.
