The Blue Horsehead Nebula in Infrared
The Blue Horsehead Nebula looks very different in infrared light. Visible light shows a blue, horse-shaped reflection nebula. In infrared, a complex network of glowing dust and gas emerges, making the horse shape hard to find. This image uses data from NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, mapping three infrared colors.
