Aurora and Manicouagan Crater from the Space Station
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This photograph from the International Space Station shows several phenomena. An aurora appears green at the bottom and red at the top, visible across the left of the image. Airglow appears orange, hovering over the curve of the Earth. The circular Manicouagan Crater in Canada, about 100 kilometers across, is one of Earth's oldest impact craters. Snow and ice cover much of the ground, and city lights dot the landscape.
