Northern Lights and Noctilucent Clouds

COSMIC MESSAGE
Luminous skies after the near-solstice sunset are reflected in this calm lake in Alberta, Canada. Noctilucent clouds, also known as night-shining clouds, hang just above the horizon, appearing at high latitudes in summer months. These icy apparitions form near the edge of space, condensing on meteoric dust or volcanic ash. This phenomenon occurs while the clouds are still illuminated by the sun at extreme altitudes.
