Fresh Tiger Stripes on Saturn's Enceladus
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Underground oceans may vent through the tiger stripes on Saturn's moon Enceladus. These features are known to spew ice into space, creating a cloud of fine ice particles over the moon's South Pole and forming Saturn's E-ring. The Cassini spacecraft, which orbited Saturn from 2004 to 2017, provided evidence for this. This image shows a high-resolution view of Enceladus from a close flyby.
