COSMIC MESSAGE
These delicate, glowing gas filaments are the western part of the Veil Nebula, in the constellation Cygnus. The Veil Nebula is a large supernova remnant, an expanding cloud from the death of a massive star. Light from the original explosion likely reached Earth over 5,000 years ago. The interstellar shock wave from the event plows through space, sweeping up and exciting gas.
