COSMIC MESSAGE
This isn't a distant nebula, but the exhaust plumes from a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch. The image, taken near Vandenberg Air Force Base, shows the rocket's first and second stages rising through the early evening sky. The illuminated clouds of gas and dust create a nebula-like appearance against the twilight.
