R Leporis, also known as Hind's Crimson Star, is a rare carbon star in the constellation Lepus. It's a shocking shade of red, described by its discoverer as a 'drop of blood on a black field'. This Mira-type variable star, located 1,360 light-years away, changes its brightness over a period of about 14 months.
