NGC 6188: The Dragons of Ara

COSMIC MESSAGE
These dark, wing-like shapes are tens of light-years long, found in the emission nebula NGC 6188. The nebula sits near a large molecular cloud in the southern constellation Ara, about 4,000 light-years away. Massive young stars, only a few million years old, sculpt these fantastic shapes. Their stellar winds and intense ultraviolet radiation power the nebular glow.
