A Cold December Night

Here, Orion rises sideways over a snowy landscape in the Czech Republic. The bright stars of the familiar northern winter constellation lie just above the snowy treetops. Gemini's meteors rain down on the wintry landscape, captured as streaks in exposures made near the peak of the annual Geminid meteor shower. They stream away from the shower's radiant, above the trees, near the town of Ustupky.
