A total lunar eclipse makes the full Moon appear dark and red. This happens when the Moon enters the Earth's shadow, and sunlight scatters through our atmosphere, casting a reddish hue on the Moon. This particular event was dubbed a 'Super Blood Wolf Moon' due to the Moon's angular size, its color, and the traditional name for January's full Moon.
