An Airglow Fan from Lake to Sky

COSMIC MESSAGE
A fan-like pattern of green airglow rises from a lake, framed by the arch of the Milky Way. This natural light show, captured near Bryce Canyon in Utah, is caused by atmospheric gravity waves about 90 kilometers up. Unlike auroras, which are powered by charged particles, airglow comes from atoms and molecules in Earth's upper atmosphere releasing energy. The waves create ripples of alternating air pressure, making the glow appear in patterns.
