X-Ray Superbubbles in Galaxy NGC 3079

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Chandra X-Ray Observatory detected these two superbubbles in galaxy NGC 3079. Each bubble spans thousands of light-years, glowing in X-rays because they are so hot. They straddle the galaxy's center, leading scientists to hypothesize they were created by the interaction of the central supermassive black hole with its surroundings.
