NASA APOD · Tapio Lahtinen
COSMIC MESSAGE

Lynds' Dark Nebula 1622, or LDN 1622, is a dark nebula that appears against a faint background of glowing hydrogen gas. It is near the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy, close in the sky to Barnard's Loop. The obscuring dust of LDN 1622 is thought to be much closer than Orion's more famous nebulae.
