The Orion Nebula is shooting out 'bullets' of gas, each about the size of our solar system and moving at 400 kilometers per second. These bullets were first observed in 1983, originating from a central source called IRc2. Their young age, less than 1,000 years, indicates a recent energetic event. Iron gas at the tips of these bullets causes them to glow as they expand.
