COSMIC MESSAGE

How far can you see with your unaided eye? The most distant object easily visible is M31, the Andromeda Galaxy, over two million light-years away. Without a telescope, it looks like a faint, nebulous cloud in the constellation Andromeda. This six-hour telescopic mosaic shows its bright yellow nucleus, dark dust lanes, blue spiral arms, and red emission nebulae.
