COSMIC MESSAGE

The Great Nebula in Orion, M42, is a vast starbirth region, about 1,500 light-years away. This deep image, highlighting oxygen and hydrogen emission, shows glowing gas surrounding hot, young stars. These stars are at the edge of an immense interstellar molecular cloud. You can find the Orion Nebula with your unaided eye near Orion's belt.
