A 212-Hour Exposure of Orion

NASA APOD · Stanislav Volskiy, Rollover Annotation: Judy Schmidt
COSMIC MESSAGE

The constellation Orion is rich with impressive nebulae, far more than just three stars in a row. This image is a mosaic of 1400 exposures taken over 212 hours of camera time in 2013 and 2014. After an additional year of processing, it reveals details spanning over 40 times the angular diameter of the Moon.
