COSMIC MESSAGE

Betelgeuse, a red supergiant in Orion, is one of the brighter stars in the sky. It is closer to us than many of Orion's other bright stars and the greater Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. Light takes about 700 years to reach us from Betelgeuse. It takes about 1,300 years to reach us from the Orion Nebula.
