COSMIC MESSAGE
The Andromeda galaxy, M31, is the closest large spiral galaxy to our own Milky Way. It is about 2.5 million light-years away. This image compares its size to a familiar celestial sight, showing how large it would appear in our sky if it were brighter. Andromeda is visible to the unaided eye as a faint patch of light.
