Moon Pairs and the Synodic Month

NASA APOD · Marcella Giulia Pace
COSMIC MESSAGE

A synodic month, the time it takes for the Moon to cycle from New Moon to Full Moon and back again, is about 29.5 days. These panels show the range of lunar phases for a complete synodic month in August 2019, as seen from Sicily, Italy. The images are organized in pairs, illustrating the gradual change in the Moon's visible sunlit portion.
