The Virgo Cluster is the closest large galaxy cluster to our own, about 50 million light-years away. This image shows a scattering of its galaxies across a wide field of view. Prominent here are the bright elliptical galaxies M87, M84, and M86. M84 and M86 are known for their active galactic nuclei.
