The Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array in New Mexico is a collection of 27 radio antennas, each 25 meters across. They can be moved on railroad tracks to span an area up to 35 kilometers wide. This instrument has been used to discover water on Mercury and radio-bright coronae around stars. Here, the giant dishes rise above the desert at moonset.
