North of Orion's Belt

COSMIC MESSAGE
This wide-field view just north of Orion's belt is filled with bright stars, interstellar dust clouds, and glowing nebulae. The bluish reflection nebula M78 is at the lower right, its tint due to dust reflecting the blue light of hot, young stars. A red swath of glowing hydrogen gas streams through the center, part of the larger Barnard's Loop.
