COSMIC MESSAGE
The Helix Nebula, one of the brightest and closest planetary nebulae, represents the end stage of a Sun-like star's life. The star's outer gases have been expelled into space, forming a glowing cloud. The remnant central core, destined to become a white dwarf, emits energetic light that causes the expelled gas to fluoresce.
