A Perseid Fireball and the Milky Way

COSMIC MESSAGE
This bright, green fireball was likely a piece of Comet Swift-Tuttle, part of the annual Perseid meteor shower. It shot across the Milky Way in 2018 above a valley in Yichang, Hubei, China. The trail it left took 30 minutes to dissipate. It was a small bit of comet nucleus plowing through Earth's atmosphere.
