COSMIC MESSAGE
How did a round star create this square nebula? The Red Square Nebula, centered on star MWC 922, puzzles astronomers. Infrared images from the Hale and Keck-2 telescopes show its distinct shape. One idea is that the star expelled gas in cones during its late stages, forming the square appearance.
