Direct Projection: The Moon in My Hands

NASA APOD · Jeff Graphy
COSMIC MESSAGE

Projecting a telescope's image onto a surface can dilute the brightness of objects, useful for observing the Sun or a full Moon. This image shows a full Moon, sometimes called the Snow Moon, projected through a telescope onto someone's hands. This technique allows for safe and shared viewing of bright celestial bodies without looking directly through the eyepiece.
