Odd Radio Circles, or ORCs, are a cosmic puzzle no one expected. ORC-1 is an example of these five enigmatic objects, visible only at radio frequencies, discovered in 2019 by the Australian SKA Pathfinder radio array. The featured video's final image uses 2021 data from the South African MeerKAT array for more detail. The turquoise-colored radio data is combined with an optical/infrared map from the Dark Energy Survey.
