Supernova Remnant: The Veil Nebula

NASA APOD · Craig Stocks (Utah Desert Remote Observatories)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Ten thousand years ago, a new light appeared in the night sky and faded after a few weeks. This was a supernova, an exploding star. Today, we record the expanding debris cloud as the Veil Nebula, a supernova remnant. This wide-angle view, imaged with color filters for sulfur, hydrogen, and oxygen, was processed to remove stars and better capture the nebula's intricate structure.
