The spiral galaxy NGC 6744 is a near twin to our own Milky Way, about 175,000 light-years across. It sits 30 million light-years away in the southern constellation Pavo. We see its disk tilted, with an elongated yellowish core. This telescopic view spans an area about the angular size of a full moon.
