Dust Clouds of the Pacman Nebula

Stars can sculpt huge, intricate dust structures from the dense molecular clouds where they are born. They use high-energy light and fast stellar winds to carve these detailed works. The heat generated by the stars evaporates the dark molecular dust and causes ambient hydrogen gas to disperse and glow red. This image shows a new open cluster of stars, IC 1590, nearing completion around the intricate interstellar dust structures of the Pacman Nebula.
