Perseids from Perseus

COSMIC MESSAGE
Every year in August, Earth passes through a stream of debris left by Comet Swift-Tuttle. These sand-sized bits of rock burn up in our atmosphere, creating the Perseid meteor shower. If you trace their paths backward, the meteors appear to originate from the constellation Perseus, which gives the shower its name.
