A Meteor Wind over Tunisia

NASA APOD · Makrem Larnaout
COSMIC MESSAGE

Earth passes through a 'wind' of meteors frequently, visible as meteor showers. Almost all meteors are sand-sized debris from comets or asteroids, orbiting the Sun. When Earth moves through one of these streams, the debris can appear as a meteor wind. The meteors light up in Earth's atmosphere, usually burning up completely.
