Saturn's Iapetus: Moon with a Strange Surface

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Saturn's moon Iapetus has a strange ridge circling its equator, making it look like a walnut. The origin of this ridge is unknown, with hypotheses including ice from below, a crashed ring, or a remnant from its formation. Also strange is that about half of Iapetus is so dark it nearly disappears.
