The Running Chicken Nebula, IC 2944, is a large star-forming region about 6,000 light-years away in the constellation Centaurus. This image, captured over three nights, shows the nebula in scientifically assigned colors. The young star cluster Collinder 249 is visible within the glowing gas of the nebula.
