Our Sun is more active than expected as it approaches solar maximum in 2025. This image is a composite of daily views from NASA's Solar Dynamic Observatory, taken from January to June. It shows a high abundance of sunspots, with large individual spots visible as they track across the Sun's surface. Scientists are still working to understand why our star is so dynamic now.
